You play it everyday.
It isn't just the breaks you get,
But the kind of game you play."

Welcome to THAT'S BASEBALL,
a celebration of the National Pastime, the most perfect game ever devised and one that perfectly reflects the American character. This website focuses on the history of the game using not just the statistics but the stories behind the numbers. By its very nature this site will never be "finished." Because baseball, like life, goes on, no matter what, unchanged in its essentials, yet always changing, as every season that passes adds more records, more stats, more successes, more failure. Every year contributes to the already vast lore of the game.
What's New will let you know what's been added most recently to the site. Baseball History is your portal to the "facts" of the game -- the stats, the records, the awards, players' pages, ballclubs past and present, and more. Baseball anecdotes as well as strange and fascinating facts can be found in every issue of 9 Innings: A Baseball Reader. Quotes, selected Articles, and public domain Stories about baseball from the likes of Ring Lardner and Zane Grey have their own sections. Inside Baseball explores the inner workings of the game, and Notes on the National Pastime offers fascinating tidbits about the sport. Don't forget to play the That's Baseball Game. And you can search this site by using the search engine below. Companion sites include an "alternate" history of baseball that follows the triumphs and tribulations of a fantasy major league franchise, the Nevada Dusters, while They Played the Game is a fun and fact-filled directory of baseball players from the game's beginnings to the present day.
This isn't just a site to visit -- you are encouraged to contribute. In fact, your contributions are essential. Stories, anecdotes, commentary, articles, suggestions and criticisms are all welcome. Help this site reach its full potential.
